A big announcement!
January 15, 2017, 11:31:57 PM Lenophis
Honestly, I should have done this a year ago, but for some reason I didn't think about it until just recently. It is time to take the bull by the horns and drive it home. Put your best foot forward. Bringing it new life. Other such verbose descriptions.

The site now has a Discord server! What's Discord? Take everything good about Skype, IRC, instant messaging, and put it all together. That's Discord.

More to come. :omg:

A call for help
July 13, 2013, 07:11:23 AM Lenophis
As some of you that visit may have guessed, not a lot has been getting done around here. Truth is, real life has taken its toll. My time has been eaten up by work, and what little time I do have off, I have no motivation to do anything here. I don't expect anyone to forgive me for that, and truthfully speaking, you shouldn't. I also know that I should've done this a long time ago, but I never did, thinking I would be able to get more time to get stuff done.

So what am I looking for? To be blunt, grunt work. I need someone (or multiple people) to take care of the submissions that get sent in. Sadly, the system behind it is kind of...old, but that makes it relatively easy to manage. Unfortunately, it probably eats up more time than it should. If progress demands it, the system core of this site can be updated, though I'll have to explore my options of what we update it to.

I probably forgot to mention something, so if there are any questions, feel free to ask.

The drive has ended
November 18, 2012, 10:00:37 PM Lenophis
Wow, a news post? Really? :wtf: Yep, really, and it comes with news even!

Poxnor, of SDA fame, is organizing a Final Fantasy-themed charity marathon, aptly titled Crystals For Life. At the time of this post, the website that will be showing this marathon will re-direct you to the planning thread. If you're lazy, the charity we're raising money for is the Canadian division of Juvenile Diabetes Research. Sounds awesome, right?

Sadly, I'm not 100% certain I have the funds to make the trip to Edmonton to attend. That's where you come in, and I direct your attention to the nav bar on the left. If you're viewing this post from the forum, you'll have to go to the front page to see it. Any donation is accepted, and any donation you make will go towards torturing me by forcing me to play the games I own on my stream, and if you really feel evil, you can do any of the following:

5 dollars gets a game played for an undetermined amount of time (at least an hour, depending on the game maybe longer).
10 dollars gets a special game challenge (Super Metroid RBO, for example, SM low% is excluded from this; see below).
25 dollars gets an FF1 playthrough with the party of your choice.
Other donation challenges gladly accepted!

Stupid/hard challenges:
Megaman X low%: 0/$75
Megaman X2 low%: 0/$125
Megaman X3 low%: 0/$200
Super Metroid low%: 0/$150
Final Fantasy (NES) Solo Thief: 0/$200
Final Fantasy (NES) Solo Black Mage: 0/$200

Awesome contributors:

If you want your donation to go to something specific, leave it in the chip-in comment or post it in this thread. Names will be removed if necessary/requested. :childish: One last thing, if you have any doubts about where your donation is going, it's specifically and only travel costs. Any surplus goes straight to the charity.

:edit: (Copied from a post I just made)

Well, it was fun. As some of you may know, I am no longer going. I won't get into why, but rest assured that all the money raised is still going to the event. But because of Chipin being overtaken, I'll probably just get Poxnor's paypal email and just do it directly so there's no fee crap.

Thanks again to everyone that contributed! :childish:

Slick Has Moved!
July 30, 2011, 07:09:57 PM Hypher
The server move for slickproductions is complete. With any luck, no one even noticed the forum downtime (~20 minutes). If anything seems amiss on our new home, please contact Lenophis or me. Cheers.

Server Move (Again)
July 24, 2011, 06:47:49 PM Hypher
Hey Everyone, slick's admin here. Looks like you're going to be reminded that I exist again for a little while, as we move to another server yet again. I'll be performing the move over the next few days, and with any luck you'll never even notice. Except that I'll lock down the forms for a few hours during the database switchover. Yay. I'll post again when its all said and done, sorry for the inconvenience.

Pandora's Box sees the light of day once again
February 25, 2011, 10:06:58 PM Lenophis
It's been a while since we've had any public discussion about this one, but now is not the time for talk. It's time for action. That's right, THE FF6 Hack gets a public demo, and one that is long overdue. What does this mean?

  • We're still working on it yet, and we still have a long way to go before it's finished.
  • You guys get to rip us once again for what we do and do not have available for play.

Some of the changes you may (or may not) find during this demo:
  • A new dungeon!
  • 118 bugs fixed, all from the original FF6 game. A special thanks to the many patch authors who released the fixes they did.
  • Far too many core changes to improve the game. Having said that, make sure you take a peek in the configuration screen.
  • Restoration of lost and removed content, which is mostly contained in dialogue.
  • Item changes-- some old, some new, some gone, so look around!
  • Several event tweaks, a couple overhauls, and lots of additions. Yes, you will get to experience the Auction House, the Magitek Research Facility, and one banquet in particular.

Going into further detail would be long, boring, and tl;dr. In the end, after four years of work to this date, we think many will be pleased. However, since this is the internet, and for some it's real life, we know that not everyone will be happy with some changes.

On behalf of the whole team, we thank everyone for their patience, their suggestions, and their feedback with this hack.

But enough talk, have at it! Make sure you read the readme, because nobody can help you if you don't.

Voting system fixed
May 17, 2010, 03:45:49 AM Lenophis
To all of you that may have been voting for the various patches we have hosted here, you may have noticed that the voting did not work at all. Thanks to Hypher, that problem has been fixed.  Hooray legacy PHP issues.

Additionally, all hacks have had their votes reset to 0, so everything gets a clean slate. Some steps were taken to account for the spam votes, hopefully that's been taken care of. Rejoice.

No more email crap
April 25, 2010, 11:14:10 PM Lenophis
To address the ongoing issue of dealing with email and submissions, I figured the best option now was to make a submission subforum right here. And that's what I did. It should be easier to poke me with stuff now instead of "did he read it yet?!" Hopefully things go smooth.
