I have in my possession a prototype of Final Fantasy III (US). I intend to release this with an article on my website (SNES Central), and I would like to know any changes from the final version. Of course it could entirely be possible that the game is identical to the final, but the dump is corrupt to a certain degree and overdumped. I sent the rom to nach, so hopefully it can be fixed up before distribution. I was wondering if there were any ways to extract the game text so I can compare with the final version?
A prototype ROM or prototype CART? If the latter -->
I think the table files must be slightly off:
If you don't mind sending me a copy, I'll look into the differences between this ROM and the official releases. Every once in a while, I like to compare the code and data between the various versions of this game (and I usually make some interesting findings in the process), so I would be in known territory.QuoteA prototype ROM or prototype CART? If the latter --> While this doesn't really count as evidence, there's someone here who claims to be in possession of such a cart:http://www.rickbruns.com/Games/GamesRareFF3.htm
Provided everything's in the same place, my dumping package should've gotten you all of the item, magic, skill, enemy, etc. names and descriptions. None of those use DTE, so they all should dump correctly.
