Computer Blues (Containts teen wangst)

WARNING: 15-YEAR-OLD BOY'S ANGSTING INSIDE. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!

 :isuck:

That's...all there is to it.

 :isuck:

Really, that pretty much sums up the topic. My computer lags horribly when I emulate GameBoy Color games, but not NES, SNES, GBA, or even PS1 games. Yes, you heard right--PS1 games run better than a simple GBC game on my hunk o' junk. This is what I get for pirating, I guess. This is probably also what I get for being poor.

At any rate, as of late, my computer also does not let me listen to MP3s and emulate at the same time while using speedup. Again, this is what I get for being poor and not being able to buy an iPod like all the 6-year-olds.

But that doesn't really have anything to do with the topic at hand, yes? Well, let me tell you of more suckage: every non-vBulletin forum I go to lags when I type. I'm currently typing up this wangstfest in Notepad, for those curious. Anyhow, this started when I switched from IE 7 to IE 8. I'd just switch to Firefox, but I have a feeling it'll lag on that, too.

Back to the GBC issue here--I've tried BGB, but if I try to make the screen size any larger than the default x1 resolution, the game lags. Not to mention it lags in VBACE. "VBACE's outdated!" you say. "Get VBA-M!" There's a problem there, too--don't you think I would've switched already if I could? I mean, hell, it's linked in the friggin Game Progress thread. The problem here is that it's like what DS games are on my computer: too advanced, so it lags for everything.

Don't really know how to end this. So I guess I'll just end it like a normal LiveJournal entry: "WHY DOESN'T ANYONE UNDERSTAND ME BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW /wrist"

...Or something like that.

What the hell? I thought I changed the title. And had content in my post. I didn't hit the "post" button at all...

Well, this is a prime example of how much it sucks, I guess.

Yay content!

...dude, virus scan like right fucking now. Use the following apps(NOT AT THE SAME TIME BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN IF YOU RUN THEM AT THE SAME TIME): nod32(Free trial available), AVG Free, Anti-Vir, Spybot search and destroy and Ad-aware.

After that, defrag, maybe twice. Then, try firefox.

No dice on nod32; IE crashes when I go to the home page. I had AVG before and it didn't do jack. I'll try the others though.

 :edit:
Should probably mention that I have CA Security Center, and when I scan, it doesn't come up with any viruses or anything.

As for defrag, I do that and it can only defrag 2% of my computer because of all the gigabytes of files on it.

AVG changes a fair bit with each new release. I'll find you an alternate download link for nod32.

Alright then; thanks, I'll try them. May as well try CA again, too, just for good measure. I mean, I have canceled the last two antispyware/antivirus scans because they happened to pop up when I was in the middle of Breath of Fire II. >_>

More proof that :isuck:! :childish:

A couple of things here:

1. The handheld emulator lag thing has been happening since I switched to this computer.

2. I think I figured out one of the problems--I have no firewall. I try to install CA's firewall and it gives me some stupid error shit 90% through. My dad won't be able to help tonight as it's 12:42 AM. I'll be willing to try all of those things IST suggested as soon as I get a damn firewall. Jesus, I'm sick of this piece of shit computer. I'm about 5 seconds away from throwing out the goddamn window.

Firewall wouldn't have anything to do with this, really, unless you know for a fact you have something triggering incoming or outgoing connections.

Reformatting might be in order, if you have a way to back up your stuff, and still have access to your Windows install disc. I'd still run the virus scans first though, just to make sure you're not backing up any infected files.

I did a reformat not three months ago and my antispyware/antivirus don't pick up anything.

This computer initally came with, like, Windows 2000 and we got it upgraded to Windows XP. My dad says that some sort of memory stick thing inside it stopped working, too, so that might be the problem.

I'm just starting to think that this computer sucks like a $1,000 prostitute.

I really, really, really hate my computer.

 :edit:
I forgot to mention--my handheld stuff worked fine up until about two years ago. I'm guessing that's when the stick-thing ran out of juice.

He's referring to a RAM stick. Do the following for me: right click My Computer and select Properties. Tell me how much ram you have.

Tell me the CPU too while you're at it.

I need to reformat but I don't know how and I don't want to lose things I'm working on. Mine's been pissing me off something fierce (random resets) loud clicking sounds, the fan going hay wire (I recently took a bunch of dust out of it, but it didn't help really).
I plan on buying a new one when SC2 comes out.
