This is the official thread regarding this project.  I hope to have everyone contribute, discuss, and test it before official release. 

Facts:
-There will be no release date so I won't feel the need to be rushed.
-I need at least three beta testers once I get enough content in the game.
-I need someone to do some dialogue text changes for me.
-May need someone who's good at font design to design me a font based on the FF2us font.
-May need someone who's knowledgable in ASM to give me a hand on a few things.

Short term plans:
-Item overhaul and tweaks
-Monster overhaul and tweaks
-Character stats overhaul and tweaks

Long term plans:
-Fix bugs from the original V1.0 ROM
-Fix bugs in my original V1.2 hack
-Rework the Monster AI
-Rework the Magic
-Menu tweaks
-Area map tweaks
-Treasure overhaul

Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.  I'm taking applications for beta testing.  I need to know a couple of things.

-Are you a ROM hacker:
-If so what projects have you done:
-How much free time can you give per week on beta testing:

ok, good, thanks. i didn't know if maybe that was some kind of strange problem with my rom, or what. 

just grabbed the mystic sword, which has now made rod a beast.  he's doing twice as much damage(roughly 1300 vs. 550-600 for others) as everyone else, which is really boosted, due to the offering-characteristic of the ninja gear. anyway, just getting to the end of the cave right now.

and, with edgar's new sword, i totally pwned the 5-monster, 3-mage, group.  got 10ap and 3 x-elixirs.  now i'm really powered up. i think i'm gonna wait to go into vector and teach terra some spells.

one thing you may want to fix... i'm pulling 6 megalixirs per battle between locke stealing and monster drops. 

PM me which battle so no one abuses it.  Megalixirs need to obviously be scarce.

The Blood Spear and Sword will get tweaked trust me.  I won't take their effectiveness away as free healers--but they won't have nearly the attack power or hit% that they do. 

And, there will be a Lucky Knife for FF2usHT V2.0.   :cycle:

So far the Ghost and Paladin seem to be most people's choices for the monster that was rediculously hard, surprisingly hard, and cool awards.  The Sorcerer is probably third.  There will be quite a few tweaks for sure in V2.0 of my FF2usHT you can guarantee.  Monsters and equipment need a bit more tweaking.  And I'll need someone to fix the dialogue issues since I exchange the Dark Knight for the Paladin/"Warrior".  And I'll obviously tweak the way you get the "god" Adamant equipment as well as make Edge slightly less awsome since he can practically solo if he gets the right equipment and Rage is cast.

ok, so i decided to start this up again.  i'm just heading into the cave at the sealed gate using the 1.3b  patch from last(?) week.

btw, why can imps use the "shock" attack? specifically, rod and james. after they get hit by imp song, only the blitz option greys out.


also, it's been awhile since i've played, but i've noticed that i have one "unidentified" relic(that teaches "attack") and i've met 2 different monsters called "unknown". are multiple monsters just called that?

The Sorcerers are actually quite good me thinks, I love the sense of danger they give if not taken seriously.

Thanks for playing and coming here and posting at least some of your playthrough.  I'm going to catalogue this playthrough along with the FF3usHT ones on my computer so I can know what all needs to be looked at and fixed. 

A few questions...
-How many hours did it take you?
-Can you post screens of your final party, their equipment and stats?
-From 1 (low) to 10 (high) what would you rate it overall?
-Would you play it again?
-If no to the above would you play it if it was tweaked/fixed?
-What was your least favorite monster in terms of dreading to fight?
-What monster was the most disappointing?
-What monster was the most surprise in terms of difficulty?

 :edit: Well, it does have 0 magic defense, you're right.  That definitely decreases usefullness a lot.  Still, not going to use it.  :s

Check the Magic Block %, I think it may be broken?

Seems as though the stats are a bit wrong, should give +15 STR and -15 on everything else.

Whoa, Strength armor is indeed broken, its supposed to have 0 magic defense.  Whoops...

Sorcerers (if you didn't read the thread here) are paying a devilish honor to the FF1 Sorcerers who seemed to love to one hit kill you even if they did 1DMG.

Haha, wow... the CPU was hard too.  I spammed meteo the entire time, Rosa healed and used ethers, and Rydia spammed leviathan.  Cecil brsk/hasted himself, and Cipher followed suit with rage.  I did juuuust enough damage before I ran out of resources.  Pretty intense.  On the moon, Kain is back in my party now.

Yeah, but at least I wasnt using the adamant/ragnarok, eh??  I'm not gonna go THAT far.

What made the CPU harder vs normal?

DKK, did you ever fix any issues with FF2usHT like you did with FF3usHT?  I might be getting in the mood to stop playing Romancing SaGa and start working to fix FF2usHT. 

Nope. One thing I'd suggest is porting it to version 1.1 to fix the timer issue, shouldn't be too hard to copy all your data changes over, at least one monster (The Ghost) can crash the game because of the broken timers.

The Ghost in 1.0 or the Ghost in 1.1?

Hehe, gotta love surprises.  If you hadn't won the Cursed Ring imagine how hard those battles would of been, eh?  If you have a save there take it off and try again just for grins.

Oh, by the way.  Blood spear should be nerfed to hell, it's wayyyyyyy too good.  Anything that lets people solo entire dungeons just by repeat jumping is ridiculous, IMHO.

The Blood Spear should be nerfed probably--but I think its usefullness is about to expire.   :laugh:
