While we are at it, has anybody ever found the data for "complex" monsters? For complex I mean tile mapped monsters, like Leviathan, or Golbeza's four emperors.

Zyrthofar has those displaying correctly in his editor but I don't know where it gets the data from:

He sent a lot of the data he found to JCE, who passed it on to me, but I accidentally deleted my copy.

Cecil has the monopoly on dark-elemental attacks, he gets the dark knight equipment obviously and the crystal in the final battle. Other than those nothing uses dark.

Here's a list of everything holy:
  • Holy
  • Meteo
  • W.Meteo

And I thought you might like this one: D(ark).Breath is fire-elemental.

The commands function the same regardless of the character using them. Each character spriteset has one frame devoted to the command animation and some commands also use the other animations' frames, such as the casting animations. Generally the command animations look bad for any character that didn't use them originally.

I can't remember ever having that happen to me, it probably has though, I've had bad luck with the bosses in every Sonic game. Sonic & Knuckles's third-to-last boss (The one with the six fingers you need to kill) is the worst of them though, the floor in that room has bad clipping, I don't know how many times I've killed myself just running to the edge of the screen too fast.

 :whoa:

That is really awesome, I wanted to look into upgrading the graphics to 4BPP myself but wasn't sure where to start, now I have an idea of how to go about doing that.

 now only if i can get the text closer together..

With any luck you could just port the US version's VWF code. Run a trace of a string being drawn in the textbox in both versions, then look for code loading the starting address of the dialogue pointer table, the text routines should be jumped to right after the string is loaded. From there it's a matter of finding the differences between them and getting those changes ported into the Japanese version.

You probably accidentally set the arrow bit, that makes it so you lose the weapon after attacking with it. I was taking advantage of that for my hack, I made a Glass Sword with 255 attack power that broke after one attack, I ended up scrapping it because of the arrow bug.

I've got the Golbez wallpaper from the FF4 DS site right now, I've been swapping between that and the others for a while now.

Finally found them:

0x79070 (Unheadered): 1 byte per weapon, if byte is non-zero the weapon will use its spell, byte is the spell's power.
