Gaming Discussion / Re: Gaming Progress Thread

I decided to record a run of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night to see how rusty I am. The run lasted all of 5:16, so that should give you an indication of how much I suck at it. However, before it switched to Alucard, things looked...funky. Observe:

Richter is completely transparent, except for his sprite outline, Drac's health meter is mostly missing, and though it wasn't seen, Maria's palette was completely messed up.

Pretty sure my PS is dying. :( At least the PS2 rides strong!

[21:46:15] <Disch> I don't have an account on those forums  =(
[21:46:22] <Disch> but yeah my doc is totally wrong
[21:46:35] <Disch> it was written before I realized MMC1 had a 256K cap
[21:46:59] <Disch> In order to expand he'd have to switch to another mapper, or go with SUROM
[21:47:11] <Lenophis> want me to relay?
[21:47:18] <Disch> SUROM is MMC1, but switching between the upper and lower 256K blocks is funky
[21:47:25] <Disch> yeah if you want
[21:47:36] <Disch> direct him to my more complete mapper docs
[21:47:51] <Disch> (the ones that have like 100+ mappers documented)
[21:47:58] <Lenophis> is it at RHDN?
[21:48:02] <Disch> yes
[21:48:05] <Disch> tell him to check out 001.txt and read the section on SUROM
[21:48:14] <Disch> or wait.. SOROM?
[21:48:16] <Disch> one of those
[21:48:18] * Disch checks
[21:48:39] <Lenophis> which document?
[21:48:48] <Lenophis> cause you still have FF1 rom expansion there
[21:48:56] <Disch> SUROM
[21:49:06] <Disch> the mapper docs one
[21:49:19] <Disch> hold

Pretty sure that was my fault. :isuck:

Aye, yai yai. You'd think with 2.0 there'd be uniformity, or something. I have no idea how the stats pages are drawn, so I don't know where to begin with fixing it.

13 - If Edgar is using Def Command then
All added.

Any particular reason why you didn't post this in the submission forum? :banonsmash:

Slick News / Voting system fixed
« on: May 17, 2010, 03:45:49 AM »
To all of you that may have been voting for the various patches we have hosted here, you may have noticed that the voting did not work at all. Thanks to Hypher, that problem has been fixed.  Hooray legacy PHP issues.

Additionally, all hacks have had their votes reset to 0, so everything gets a clean slate. Some steps were taken to account for the spam votes, hopefully that's been taken care of. Rejoice.

Any news on the FC commands you want to create?
3 - If current background is Grass Wob then
15 - If Relm has Cat Hood equipped then
These are the two that have been added thusfar (though I turned 15 into a generalized "if target x has item y equipped" command). Oddly enough, swapping gear in battle updates the live character data (iow, not the battle buffer, does one exist for equipment?) which strikes me as a bit strange.

4 - If Terra has command Summon available then
This one strikes me as difficult to implement, for some reason. The battle array holds the four commands, but it doesn't appear as though it's easily indexed, unless I'm reading into it wrong. If it is figured out, I highly suspect it'll get added.

Thanks for these suggestions, keep them coming.

General Discussion / Lord Stanley's Cup
« on: May 14, 2010, 10:59:07 PM »
Not the finals yet, but with the insanity going on in the previous rounds it's impossible to ignore. First, something one member here will absolutely love, the Montreal Canadiens have first stomped out the lowly Capitals, then proceeded to stomp out the defending champion Penguins. Pretty good for an 8 seed. They will play the 67-seed Flyers, who just game back from an 0-3 deficit to the Bruins. Ouch.

The mighty Red Wings were slain by some Sharks, and the Canucks got trounced by the Blackhawks.

With the recent trend going on, I'll say the Blackhawks will win the west, and the Habs will win the east. The Blackhawks will then lose the Stanley Cup, because Marion Hossa is on their team.

I never intended to replace the FC 05 00 00 command, but merely to add an FC 11 00 00 after FC 05 00 00. My apologies for not being clear.

Most, if not all of those could have used a check with FC 11 00 00, couldn't they?

I can see I wasn't clear enough. We don't need AI, we want input on AI commands. FC is a command, and FC is a reactionary command. When stuff does stuff, stuff reacts. We want input on what stuff would react to.
