Replace the whole queue with FD.

You have the right idea, but the wrong byte. EA is NOP, but in 6502 and 65816 assembly. FF is SBC long absolute indexed, and can be used to indicate free space. Since this is for events, you need to use an equivalent "do nothing." Square made such an event command, lucky for you. Give FD a try.

General Discussion / Re: NFL season (2010-2011) week 9!
« on: November 07, 2010, 04:55:40 PM »
Today the Lions did what the Lions are accustomed to, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. They were leading the Jets 20-10 with about 5 minutes to go, and a combination of the defense being gassed, Sanchez marching the team down the field, and a late hit out of bounds, allowed the Jets to steal this one.

Also, :wtf: @ Browns beating the Pats at home. Seriously.

If I include multiple CMP's, then I would need to include multiple LDA's and Multiple STA's as well, right?
If you're smart about it, you only need the one STA. You will never need more than one LDA, since you're loading from the same address every time anyway.

How would I go into telling the game "Look for data supposed to be in the C2 bank somewhere else in the rom"?
This is not data, this is code. You should read up on some tutorials, or just try experimenting.

Is that with pointers?
No, it's a JSR, or a JMP, or maybe even if a BRL, if you're brave.

?El Ni?o? Touch

:edit:

Strangely enough, it previewed fine, but my accented e just disappeared, while the rest became question marks. I have a feeling this is a MySQL problem, and maybe not SMF's...

It's a question mark on my end, too. I suspect it's SMF's fault, but I don't know for sure.

Well, you obviously can't do that with just one CMP, so you need to insert a hook for that code to check multiple pieces of equipment.

You changed the comment, but you didn't change what piece of armor to look for. You're still checking for the Moogle Suit.

The address you just gave is where the FWF is. Fixed-width font, and in FF6's case, 8x8. DTE is Dual-tile encoding, 2 letters for 1 byte. The dialogue primarily uses it. That's all there is to it.

I could just tell you the answer, but I'm not going to do that. Let's go over what you pasted again:

Code: [Select]
C2/357E: A9 82 21     LDA #$2182
C2/3581: 8D A3 11     STA $11A3   (Set concern MP, not reflectable, Unblockable, Heal)
You see 4 effects before you. Command? LDA! This chicken-scratch is the cause of your heartache. But you don't get why. You see "2182" and go "dammit, FF6, stop talking about my house's address" and wonder why it's not clicking.

Solution: don't think of that number as a number, think of it as a series of flags. Binary numbers. $11A3 is a set of flags for various effects, such as targeting MP, healing, and unblockable.

But of coarse there seems to not be one of those.
There is, clear the flag that targets MP. HP will be targeted instead. If HP isn't targeted, MP is, and vice versa.

Just to make sure I'm clear, the characters #$10-#$7F are all free in the FWF. The DTE uses #$80-#$FF in the VWF. Subtract #$60 from the FWF to get to the VWF.

You know how assassin, Terii Senshi, Novalia Spirit, Master ZED, RuneLancer, etc all figured stuff out? They looked at the code, and they tried.

Look through the disassembly, find more instances where MP is concerned.
