Gaming Discussion / Re: The best and most accurate EMUs?
« on: June 14, 2011, 11:03:25 PM »
Nintendulator is the best cycle-accurate NES emulator around, but the best performance NES emu that is also accurate is Nestopia. As for SNES, bsnes is the most accurate, hands down, and it's not even close.

On a somewhat-related topic, is there a generally recommended tool to use in making .ips patches? I've been using Lunar Magic, but the last few versions of my patch have jumped in size and I'm not sure why. I'd like to compare the results, but I don't know what's good or accepted.
If it was a spike of 2+ megabytes, you made a patch based on a headerless rom to a headered rom (source had no header, patched rom did). All of those changes will carry over, and that's bad.

Hell if I know.

if other patches affected these things, then they could have inadvertently screwed up the auction house, even without editing the auction house data.
If any patch touched event command BD, you would be seeing the changes of it almost immediately, because it's used everywhere.

General Discussion / Re: MLB Season (2011)
« on: June 08, 2011, 11:55:35 AM »
meanwhile, their pitching, long a strong point, has been in the toilet all year; currently, they have the worst ERA in the league.  why'd they get rid of Larry Rothschild again?!  and i think getting rid of Carlos Silva was a mistake; i don't care whether he talked smack about management or not.  he was their best pitcher last year, until running into health difficulties.
Silva has always been a horse, the problem was his command at points. When he blew out his knee on the first start back in '08 I think it was, he made the choice of continuing to pitch on that knee. He went 8-9, with 7 or 8 walks. That's for an entire season. The man knows how to do his job. Anybody dumping him is a mistake.

which brings me to a longstanding gripe with this team: with some of the freshest legs in MLB, how the hell do you have only 15 steals, the second worst in the entire league?!  that's abysmal.  and to give it some perspective, four of those steals came from Tony Campana on May 30, 2011.  yes, that's right; over 25% of the entire roster's steals in 59 games have come from a SINGLE player in a SINGLE game.
Remember when Ozzie brought this up a few years ago? Sox became a running team and started to win again. Granted, they're used to being the slugging team, but if you don't have something to compliment it, you will suffer. They are a prime example of it.

why'd the Yankees dump Wood after he turned in a miniscule 0.69 ERA for them last year?!  eh, their loss.
I'm glad Wood figured out his mechanic problems, and more importantly, has been avoiding the injury bug. It's fitting that he can finish his career in Chi-town.

then i had an equally strong sense that the Cubs sucked. :P
My Twinkies would like a word with you.

Ahh, glad someone can understand the spaghetti known as my comments. Taking a quick peek, I'm not sure I see an issue, but it obviously requires some extensive testing to be sure.

And also, can someone please point me to any Auction House code that is non-event related, so I can compare data and see just what the heck is going on here?
Doesn't exist. The Auction House is entirely event driven.

My turn to double post:

After writing a rather lengthy explanation for my dispute, I clicked on it and got the following message:
"Dispute Not Allowed"
"You can only dispute a moderation within 72 hours after the moderator's action."

I was suspended for most of that time. Now I remember why I was hesitant to sign up there in the first place. :bah:

After checking my "system notifications," it turns out my sig was removed from messages for the past 6 posts or so, then entirely from my profile. After investigation, my quote was removed too, "I got your quote right here." Now, keep in my mind my sig was saying "To check out a list of the bugs we've fixed for Pandora's Box, check here:" with a link to the thread at Mnrogar's. If the sig was taken completely in context, the DMCA does not prohibit talking about bug fixes, or what one does on their spare time. Considering that the thread hasn't been posted in since 2009, and with no real hacking talk at all other than showing off what we've done, I really have to wonder what "illegal activities" we committed (ie, we didn't).

that should give you your User Info Page, unless that's somehow restricted from Suspended users.
It is. :bah:

ironically enough, the creator of the thread, Coontemptus, has not been Warned or Suspended (not that he should be).
Does somebody have it in for us? :banonsmash:

I still have it open from this morning. Unfortunately, it's only the first 10 posts cause I was logged out at the time... Your reply:

Actually, copying a game yourself isn't illegal. Obtaining a copy of someone else's copy is (in many places).

And you can modify your copy in any way that you wish. Also not illegal in most places.
Furthermore, you can distribute a patch (provided it's a format which does not retain the original, copyrighted data) over the internet. That's legal everywhere, provided you do not help your users to violate copyright (they must have their own homemade copies).

Of course, a lot of the above is merely semantic, but the law is rather silly in some ways.

But if the discussion is about GameFAQs' rules, than it seems pretty clear from the latest TOS that it's not something they want discussed here. That itself also doesn't make it illegal. But it's always a good idea to follow the rules of the site you're on.

So yeah, I'm not seeing how anybody broke any rules here. :shadow:

I get the feeling everyone in that thread got nailed. That thread was deleted once before, but the creator left a note to the mods after recreating it.

log in, click your username to see your Board User Info, then click Moderated Messages, then click on the relevant message.
My name is not clickable. :hmm:

Since gamefaqs has this tendency to log me out at random, I didn't see the suspension until this post. Here's the details if I log in:

2011-06-01 09:11:27: One of your posted messages has been deleted by a moderator for a Terms of Use Violation with a loss of 3 Karma. You should review your Moderated Messages for more information.
2011-06-01 09:12:47: Your account has been Suspended for one or more major Terms of Use violations. Your account will be reviewed within the next 24 hours. You should review your Moderated Messages for more information.

am i correct in remembering that this was just your standard-issue "All things are possible within hardware constraints given enough time" post?  if so, how the fuck was that deleted?!  and leading to a Suspension?!?!
I have no freaking clue. :wtf:

1) Some glow-in-the-dark material that I'm not really sure what it is. It's an old toy, probably doesn't glow anymore.

3) Rule #34, if it exists, there is porn of it.
