Game Modification Station / Re: Refresh objects command
« on: September 02, 2012, 01:12:13 PM »
Let's see if we can figure stuff out then:
Code: [Select]
Refresh objects
(gen. act. 45)

C0/9CE2: A901    LDA #$01
C0/9CE4: 8D9807  STA $0798
C0/9CE7: 4C5C9B  JMP $9B5C

Doing searches for all instances of $0798 gives only 1 with a read, C0/9A75. The code following this will execute only if $0798 is zero. Sadly, I have nothing else on this, though I was now able to do some code optimizations to PB's assembly of the bank.

Well, if you don't think it does anything, go ahead and get rid of it. You probably won't like the results, though.

You couldn't have copied everything if you're having layering issues.

I've used mine on XP and Vista, but not on 7.

I use a PS controller adapter (which works with PS2 controllers), and I've never had a problem with it. It also supports the dualshocks, if you have any games that use it. Imagery of the adapter: 1, 2, and 3. I got it from ZD many moons ago when they were still selling stuff. Don't think this particular brand is available anymore, but there should be plenty of similar products.

Was going to say, if you can't save anything then it's probably read-only. Not sure on this one, since I haven't experienced it myself. What specifically are you doing?

322
There's plenty of unused maps you can use, but you can't make any new map configurations, because all of those are taken up. You need to recycle old ones, or expand them (good luck with that).

323
How doable is this?
Given the current state of the FF6 map editor, it's very doable. The only problem you have is there are no free tilemaps, so you can't actually create anything new. You have to use recycled maps.

Nah, go ahead. My schedule has been consisting of "work and sleep" for the past several weeks. :bah:

DisPel does, but the version RHDN has is broken, and doesn't dump code correctly. I think the -a and -x arguments aren't even read, so everything always dumps 16-bit, or something like that. I believe data does dump correctly with that version, though. (*cough*version 0.99*cough*)

I've been meaning to submit the updated version to RHDN, but laziness has set in.

Yeah, it's been dead for over a year now. It was attacked some time ago, and it never recovered. :(

Game Modification Station / Re: Pricing Corruption
« on: June 15, 2012, 10:52:20 AM »
Quite simply, is there any way/method to avoid getting the pricing corruption that's caused by excessive item description length?
You answered your own question by stating cause and result. Just think about it for a second and you'll know what to do.

Quote
And why does the pricing corruption happen at all?
Simple explanation: game uses the same ram which causes this bug.

329
Well, something did happen, because I had no way of making any file changes to the site for the past month. DKK and Mnrogar had the same issues. I've been working so much that I wasn't able to bring it up with Hypher until this last week. :bah: Server permissions have been restored, at least.

I wouldn't know how to find this information in the ROM if I tried.
Try looking someplace obvious. :banonsmash:
