Oh. Well, if she does Protect, then at least there's some gratification that it stacks with itself. Ok, for summoning, she's really helpful if you need a big heal because of Big Bang. The healing doesn't seem to be often enough, though. Maybe I'm just unlucky?

I got as far as the witch's castle before I started getting constant game overs. After that, I decided to cheapify it by giving myself 999 HP because I was dying in one hit from everything. Seriously, those things hit way too damn hard. :sad:

I think she's a ton easier if you have Reflect. :tongue: Then you don't need to worry about her healing herself.

Ok, I've had some things in the queue going as far back as June, and for whatever reason didn't get around to some things. For that, I owe my deepest apologies to UNKNOWNFILE and Kojiro_S, since their submissions were in limbo. However, after going through my inbox I think I've gotten all of the forgotten items taken care of.

If this is not the case, re-send it! I will get it up. :happy:

On a related matter, J.B. sent in an FF1 patch, titled "Chaos Ultima." He says to check it out, so don't argue. :tongue:

Well, it took a little doing, but I managed to find it. It is indeed an event bit, and I'm so glad Square used the system it used. Made it relatively easy to find. :wink: Ok, somewhere you'll need to put this in:

This didn't stop the world map from being in the ship, so that's probably controlled by a presence bit in the NPC data which I dare not look for. That only means that setting this bit manually means you can still pick up the world map, which would probably look odd. :hmm: Where to put it is up to you, which is why I left all of the addresses blank.

...There's no map, cause it's already in the inventory. That does me no good. :sad:

More than likely this is controlled by an event bit. I could probably find it if I had a savestate at that spot where you pick up the map. (Keyword: probably, depends on if Square was smart with the event system in FF5)

Ok, I've been modded, and I have no real idea why. I know which thread it was, but it's been completely erased. In it I posted a sound clip while playing the game, which apparently is a TOS violation. :wtf: Since when are in-game clips violations? For that matter, why wasn't I flagged for this on two previous occasions? If you're curious, the thread was on this board, titled "Somebody please..." with an evil lead up about a song.

Ahh, but that's the thing. It's not up to you or me what is and isn't in a rom. It's up to the end user. If somebody wants their rom to have a header, who am I to say "no, you can't?"

Ugh, you and a lot of other people really need to learn how to make programs that can work with and without headers. Surprisingly, it's very easy. Do the following:

When opening the file, get the length of it (save it if necessary). MOD that length by 0x8000 (32,768 in decimal), which is the standard size for one LoROM bank. If the result isn't zero, then you have a header. Likewise if it is zero, the rom has nothing. Take this result and put it in a variable (in all of my apps, I call it nHeader).

Next, when calculating addresses or just fetching stuff, use the base address as if no header was present, but add the header's variable so if one is present, the location would still be correct. Example:

nFile[0x3400 + nHeader]
That will get what is at 0x3400 (base address), and if the header is present, it will be +0x200 (512).

The only tedious part is you would need to do this for all things that edit (or make a macro that adds it in automatically for you).

Simple, yes?
