Better yet have a randomizer damage multiplier based on a couple of factors instead of just making it hit all 9's or the caster's HP.  And throw some randomness in there!  Hello Fixed dice!
Like I said, there's an actual formula behind it now. It'll be up to you guys to figure out what that formula is.

Honestly, I never bothered with Strago, Gau, or Relm in FF6.  Relm was glitched, and I didn't want to spend the time on the Veldt with Strago and Gau trying to learn all the crap.
Relm's ability, like many had some bugs. The difference with Sketch, it could crash. We fixed that bug long ago, and we intend to give Sketch a lot of use this time around. Strago and Gau had use, and they'll get more use.

Here's a suggestion, have it cost all HP and MP.  Because in reality it is still rather cheap to just revive him and have him blow up again for unblockable damage.
:hmm: It'll be considered.

If you blew yourself up, would you still be alive afterwards?

Believe me, we spent a week thinking of how to make this work. We think it'll work, but I guess that's what further testing is for.

We've tweaked what was formally called "Exploder." Previously, it did damage according to how many HP the caster had left. It's fairly crappy, and gets outclassed quickly.

However, now it may yet have a purpose! Observe! Exploder has a formula behind it now, and we aren't disclosing what that formula is. :cycle: This actually would've been shown off a couple weeks ago, but all of us decided it was break time, so we couldn't finish tweaking it then.

"Youtube it, you bastard!"

Yeah, like my dialup will be that patient.

Gaming Discussion / Re: FF2/4 Asura - Unpowered, Overpowered, or Perfect?

Well, as I tried to explain in the post (which apparently going through in one eye and out the other ) her probablity of healing is far better in FF2 than FF4. I find her too underpowered in FF4 to justify the 50MP cost (multitargeted Protect is not good enough IMO, although, IIRC, Protect has a hit rate probability that it relies on - which is important to note early game).

Me dum, me sorry.

Oh. Well, if she does Protect, then at least there's some gratification that it stacks with itself. Ok, for summoning, she's really helpful if you need a big heal because of Big Bang. The healing doesn't seem to be often enough, though. Maybe I'm just unlucky?

I got as far as the witch's castle before I started getting constant game overs. After that, I decided to cheapify it by giving myself 999 HP because I was dying in one hit from everything. Seriously, those things hit way too damn hard.

I think she's a ton easier if you have Reflect. Then you don't need to worry about her healing herself.

Ok, I've had some things in the queue going as far back as June, and for whatever reason didn't get around to some things. For that, I owe my deepest apologies to UNKNOWNFILE and Kojiro_S, since their submissions were in limbo. However, after going through my inbox I think I've gotten all of the forgotten items taken care of.

If this is not the case, re-send it! I will get it up.

On a related matter, J.B. sent in an FF1 patch, titled "Chaos Ultima." He says to check it out, so don't argue.

Get some Robutussin and NyQuil, and get lots of sleep I guess. :hmm:

Well, it took a little doing, but I managed to find it. It is indeed an event bit, and I'm so glad Square used the system it used. Made it relatively easy to find. Ok, somewhere you'll need to put this in:

Code: [Select]
xx/xxxx: 08      PHP
xx/xxxx: E220    SEP #$20
xx/xxxx: A902    LDA #$02      (bit for the world map)
xx/xxxx: 0C4D0A  TSB $0A4D      (one of the rare item bytes)
xx/xxxx: (insert hooked code here...)
xx/xxxx: 28      PLP
xx/xxxx: (...or here)
xx/xxxx: 60      RTS

This didn't stop the world map from being in the ship, so that's probably controlled by a presence bit in the NPC data which I dare not look for. That only means that setting this bit manually means you can still pick up the world map, which would probably look odd. :hmm: Where to put it is up to you, which is why I left all of the addresses blank.

...There's no map, cause it's already in the inventory. That does me no good.

More than likely this is controlled by an event bit. I could probably find it if I had a savestate at that spot where you pick up the map. (Keyword: probably, depends on if Square was smart with the event system in FF5)
