General Discussion / Minnesota + trading = bad
« on: January 29, 2008, 11:33:47 PM »
Ok, there was one exception with the AJ for Liriano, Nathan, and Bonser trade, but other than that one, this state sucks at it. As many of you may remember, before the season started, Kevin Garnett was traded to Boston, and got a bunch of junk in return. A couple years ago, Randy Moss was traded to Oakland for Napolean Harris, and before that the Vikings were idiots for giving up an entire draft for Hershel Walker. Well, as if they feel the need to outdo themselves yet again, the Twins traded Johan Santana to the Mets for 4 goddamn prospects.

I don't know why I'm surprised. The Twins are always trading for the future, even when they are a winning club. They even trade the future, for the future. But they traded the best left-handed pitcher in 50 years... :bah: They signed Morneau and Cuddyer to long-term deals, but what the hell good will it do with one pitcher in the rotation?

Ugh, I'm now almost ready to swear off all loyalties to that ball club. *ponders wearing a Vikings or Wild cap*

Game Modification Station / FF6 - possible bug
« on: January 27, 2008, 03:02:57 AM »
Ok, there's a potential bug out there to crush. If you set an item to cast a spell in battle, and turn off the "break after use" flag, there's potential that the item will not ever get re-added to your inventory. From the sounds of it, number of them remaining hasn't mattered, so it sounds like it could just happen at random. This is the function that re-adds items:

Code: [Select]
(Add/restore characters' items to inventory.  This function is called:
 - At the end of a character's turn when they Steal or Metamorph something.
 - At the end of battle for all characters, to account for items they tried to use
during the battle, but were thwarted by being killed/etc (the game depletes items
upon *issuing* the command, so it'll be gone from inventory even if the command
   never executed).
 - It can also be used to restore a "bottomless" item at the end of a character's
turn.  [The game does support equipment that doesn't deplete when you use it as
an Item, though no such equipment exists.])

C2/62C9: BD 18 30     LDA $3018,X
C2/62CC: 1C 8C 3A     TRB $3A8C     (clear this character's "add my items to inventory"
C2/62CF: F0 19        BEQ $62EA     (if it wasn't set, then skip this character)
C2/62D1: BD F4 32     LDA $32F4,X
C2/62D4: C9 FF        CMP #$FF      (does this character have a valid item to add to
C2/62D6: F0 12        BEQ $62EA     (branch if not)
C2/62D8: 20 DC 54     JSR $54DC
C2/62DB: A9 01        LDA #$01
C2/62DD: 8D 75 2E     STA $2E75
C2/62E0: A9 05        LDA #$05
C2/62E2: 20 11 64     JSR $6411
C2/62E5: A9 FF        LDA #$FF
C2/62E7: 9D F4 32     STA $32F4,X   (null the item to add to inventory)
C2/62EA: CA           DEX
C2/62EB: CA           DEX
C2/62EC: 10 DB        BPL $62C9     (loop for all 4 party members)
C2/62EE: 60           RTS

If memory serves, any items will also be added when the person that used gets gets their ATB refilled. Not 100% on that. In any event, that's about all the info I have, provided from Gil. This is posted in case anybody may know anything. I, for one, have no clue what could be causing it.

General Discussion / I'm slightly miffed
« on: January 25, 2008, 06:14:19 PM »
A couple of weeks ago, I was watching the Best of Mike and Mike in the Morning, and they were in Atlantic City. That night, they (Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic) were to be roasted, and it sounded like they were preparing for it. Among those roasting were Dana Jacobson.

Anybody that has been to one, or has seen one knows how raunchy they can get. If there's something to rip into, it gets shredded until there's nothing left. It's all in good fun, at least for those with a sense of humor.

Fastforward to earlier this week, and it turns out Dana Jacobson is "being disciplined" for remarks spoken at the roast. I'm not sure what she said, but it was about Notre Dame. It angered some Catholic group, and now she's been suspended until whenever.

Ok, who sees what is wrong here? When you talk about anything at a roast, you are supposed to rip into it, as much as you can. Why was she suspended for something that you are supposed to do? What in the hell is going on here?

Slick News / Extremely late on the upload
« on: January 08, 2008, 09:19:15 PM »
Ok, I've had some things in the queue going as far back as June, and for whatever reason didn't get around to some things. For that, I owe my deepest apologies to UNKNOWNFILE and Kojiro_S, since their submissions were in limbo. However, after going through my inbox I think I've gotten all of the forgotten items taken care of.

If this is not the case, re-send it! I will get it up.

On a related matter, J.B. sent in an FF1 patch, titled "Chaos Ultima." He says to check it out, so don't argue.

Slick News / Happy new year!

Now that midnight has hit in the central time zone, I can make this news. So yeah, happy new year and have fun.

General Discussion / Gamefaqs + eternal stupidity
« on: December 31, 2007, 04:45:00 PM »
Ok, I've been modded, and I have no real idea why. I know which thread it was, but it's been completely erased. In it I posted a sound clip while playing the game, which apparently is a TOS violation. :wtf: Since when are in-game clips violations? For that matter, why wasn't I flagged for this on two previous occasions? If you're curious, the thread was on this board, titled "Somebody please..." with an evil lead up about a song.

Where's my flamethrower? :hmm:

General Discussion / Freaking health...
« on: December 28, 2007, 05:03:06 PM »
A week before Thanksgiving, I went to the doctor to get my eyes checked out. It's the same problem that has been around for 3 or 4 years now (I even posted about it at ZD's diaries a couple of years ago). Well, the bill just arrived today. The cover charge just to get an appointment was $50. The rest of it is $61. Yeah, $111 for a doctor visit. The last time, I went to the trauma center (this was in 2005, paid $100 up front cause I knew it would be bad), and the final bill was about $130 (that doesn't include the $60 spent on prescriptions either).

So yeah, not having insurance sucks. Word of advise, if you don't have health insurance, don't get sick.

Slick News / Merry Christmas
« on: December 24, 2007, 02:50:05 AM » filthy animal. Oops, sorry. Was reminiscing about an old movie. In any event, it's that time of the year again. The time when all of us are happy and we give to others and all that other stuff that usually brings up happiness and etc.

 I kid, I kid. Seriously, be safe, and happy holidays.

General Discussion / Let it snow...
« on: December 23, 2007, 01:40:45 PM »
Seriously, it's snowing crazy-like up here right now. We've already gotten at least 5 inches since this morning, and we're gonna get another 7 easily. We saw this one coming, which is always a good thing, but it's still hitting us pretty hard. To top it off, I think Lake Superior is adding to this mess, which means it won't stop at all today. Ahhh well, good thing I don't need to go anywhere.
