To anybody that tried to access the forum for a couple hours, my apologies as it was down. No thanks to an unexpected error, (whee syntax!) it was stuck in upgrade mode for a long time, and it was one step that needed to finish before it could complete itself. Things should be back up to normal now.

Slick News / Megaman 5
« on: May 31, 2008, 01:38:12 AM »

I have a feeling I goofed, badly. It was recently brought to my attention that the Megaman 5 NSFE was missing a ton of tracks. I then proceeded to check the one I have, and it has 76 tracks, with the sound effects removed from the playlist. However, SonicAndTails insisted that the one the site has is missing a ton of tracks, so I proceeded to download it. I played it, and he was right. It was missing a ton of tracks.

I searched through my email, and found no trace of this submission. To whoever sent it in, I offer my deepest and sincerest apologies for this royal flub.

To that end, the Megaman 5 NSFE has been updated.

Gaming Discussion / Definition of irony (also FFIV trailer)

Ok, look at the image (the warning, specifically), then look to see where the image came from and try not to laugh too hard.

Also, for those interested, the link to the trailer.

Slick News / Some news?!
« on: May 25, 2008, 03:23:56 PM »
There haven't been that many updates, and the news is overall kind of slow. But when there are enough updates, then there's news. *goes in circles*

Sliver-X updated Dragoon X Omega II, "hopefully for the last time." There are many bugs fixed with this version, so it'd be best to get the update.

I also made another FF6 patch, "Can't Win for Losing." It addresses item wagering in Dragon's Neck Colliseum.

Gil_Galad also fixed the rip to Werewolf - The Last Warrior, to which I promptly made an NSFE out of.

Jorgur also updated FF5+, so that's worth checking out.

Game Modification Station / Can't Lose for Winning
« on: May 13, 2008, 01:38:05 AM »
Yep, new patch (and already updated once since it's release). RHDN link, and Slick link. This patch fixes a bug with item wagering at the Dragon's Neck Colliseum.

Quote from: Glitches and Bugs guide
Colosseum steals an item from your 99 stack if you win the same item you bet -

As the title says, get 99 of an item that you get back upon winning the fight at the Colosseum, and proceed to bet it.  Win or lose, you'll have 98 when the fight ends (unless you get sneezed, run, etc.).  It only happens in that specific situation though.  The easiest items to test this with are Fire Knuckles, Tao Robes, and Trumps since you can buy those.

So yeah, fixored. There may be an update in the future though, depends on if Sneeze should really be a factor in you not losing or not. That's currently up for debate. In any event, enjoy.

Thursday was an interesting day, not Twilight Zone, but just odd. On Thursday, my grandma, my uncle, and myself went downtown to get grandma checked up. Believe it or not, things went quickly, and we couldn't have spent more than 1 hour in town. But then we returned home. I proceed to put the key in the door to unlock it. Door knob would not turn. I thought to myself "oh, wonderful." I turned back at them and said, "it won't open." Door: 1, us: 0.

My uncle then proceeds to try and turn the knob, and he can't get it open. Door: 2, us: 0. He then went into his van to get some tools. He slipped some flexible steel in to try and get the latch to go, but nothing. Door: 3, us: 0. He then thought about other ways in, but all windows were locked. He tries the door again, and again nothing. Door: 4, us: 0. He goes back to his van, and gets more tools, one of which was a crowbar. He slides the steel and the crowbar in, and tries to get the latch pried, but it still won't go. Door: 5, us: 0.

He returns to his van one more time to get a second crowbar, and he slips both in, and after some prying, the door finally opens. Door: 5, us: 1.

As it turns out, this door knob and lock are both older than I am (which isn't a surprise, since there are a lot of things in this house older than me). Needless to say, the door can no longer be unlocked from the outside, and it's kinda annoying unlocking it from the inside. Once Monday or Tuesday roll around, new door knob! :wtf:

Slick News / New section
« on: April 19, 2008, 10:08:42 PM »
Slick now has a new archive section, an FF5 patch archive. Right now, it only has 1 patch, but as time passes I hope there's more.

In addition, there's been some submitted documents to the FF5 section, which I also hope grows with time.

In other news, RT-55J has sent in a new NSFE, this one of Metal Storm.

General Discussion / The Forbidden Kingdom

New to theaters today, saw it today. Being the first movie I've seen in 6 or 7 months, I was looking for a good one. I found one. The prospect of Jackie Chan and Jet Li alone made it promising, and it delivered. There are some corny moments, which was to be expected, but all in all it turned out pretty good. There's also a 10 minute fight scene between Chan and Li, which was pretty awesome. I recommend seeing it if you like action movies.

blm07 has sent in a new NSFE, Ghostbusters 2. :omg: Picto sent in 4 new NSFE's, Fire Emblem, Fire Emblem Gaiden, Adventures of Lolo 2, and Adventures of Lolo 3. He also sent in fixes for both versions of Demon Sword, Zelda II, and Moon Crystal. My thanks for the submissions.

General Discussion / The curse that is dialup...
« on: February 14, 2008, 02:20:30 AM »
Yes, I'm sure all of  us here have experienced the pain and the suffering. It gets really bad when you have to download, which may happen more than a person realizes. Take my video drivers, for instance. Every time there's an update, the drivers are a 40+ meg download. That's an entire nights worth of internet time for me just to update the drivers. There's other things like the emergency patches that Microsoft releases now and then, and those add up too.

But when you move into things that you don't need, and just want, that's when it hurts. Recently I started a download of a Star Ocean: The Second Story speedrun. That's 500 megs for the low-quality movie, which is acceptable. That translates to about 10 nights of internet time to download it all. However, a couple of other things recently finished getting, which will tack on an additional 3 gigs. 3 gigs to download on dialup. I did some math which would have this finished some time around August or September... The worst part? I'm doing this voluntarily.

I'm pretty sure I'm still legally sane, but lately I've been having my doubts. :whoa:

Moral of the story: Be grateful for your internet speed if it isn't dialup.
