Slick News / Voting system fixed
« on: May 17, 2010, 03:45:49 AM »
To all of you that may have been voting for the various patches we have hosted here, you may have noticed that the voting did not work at all. Thanks to Hypher, that problem has been fixed.  Hooray legacy PHP issues.

Additionally, all hacks have had their votes reset to 0, so everything gets a clean slate. Some steps were taken to account for the spam votes, hopefully that's been taken care of. Rejoice.

General Discussion / Lord Stanley's Cup
« on: May 14, 2010, 10:59:07 PM »
Not the finals yet, but with the insanity going on in the previous rounds it's impossible to ignore. First, something one member here will absolutely love, the Montreal Canadiens have first stomped out the lowly Capitals, then proceeded to stomp out the defending champion Penguins. Pretty good for an 8 seed. They will play the 67-seed Flyers, who just game back from an 0-3 deficit to the Bruins. Ouch.

The mighty Red Wings were slain by some Sharks, and the Canucks got trounced by the Blackhawks.

With the recent trend going on, I'll say the Blackhawks will win the west, and the Habs will win the east. The Blackhawks will then lose the Stanley Cup, because Marion Hossa is on their team.

Pandora's Box / Make an FC command!
« on: May 07, 2010, 09:54:54 PM »
Hooray interaction. This is your opportunity to make a conditional/counter attack for Pandora's Box. The premise is simple, provide some parameters to check for or against, and tell us what is a successful test. For example:

If current song is x, counter

If your suggestion is good enough, and if we don't already have it, we'll consider adding it. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

Slick News / No more email crap
« on: April 25, 2010, 11:14:10 PM »
To address the ongoing issue of dealing with email and submissions, I figured the best option now was to make a submission subforum right here. And that's what I did. It should be easier to poke me with stuff now instead of "did he read it yet?!" Hopefully things go smooth.

Submissions / Yay, submissions
« on: April 22, 2010, 04:24:51 PM »
This subforum's purpose is solely for submitting stuff for the main site. To do so, simply make a thread and attach what you want to submit to the site. Use the thread to state what category it is, so I don't have to sift through it to determine it myself (that will only make me angry and not want to upload it).

Patch submissions:

Screenshots are encouraged for patches, and I ask that they are included with the patch in a compressed file, 7z or rar preferred. Use only png format for screenshots. If other formats are included, either by ignorance or spite (or any other reason), they will be deleted. Screenshots generally will not be included in the upload, but can be upon request.

A readme should come with the patch, but is not required.

NSFE submissions:

Include the game title, artist, copyright, ripper, and your handle (we need to know who to credit). Songs that don't naturally end should loop twice. Failure to comply will make me angry, and will cause me to seriously think about not uploading the submission.

Once you've figured everything out, use the attach feature at the bottom of the page to finalize the submission, or link to your submission from somewhere else, but no filesharing sites like mediafire, etc or anywhere else that requires javascript to get. Good luck, happy hunting.

General Discussion / USA vs Canada
« on: March 01, 2010, 04:08:14 AM »
Damn that was a great game. I was fully expecting Canada to win, but not like this. This is the "it's a shame somebody had to lose" type of game.

General Discussion / Weird dreams
« on: February 20, 2010, 12:22:47 AM »
I'm posting this here only because I can and I want to. This last week I've been having the weirdest dreams. I'll mention this one cause it's the only one that won't bring the FCC down on me.

I'm at a football game, forgot who was playing, but the game itself was more of a fundraiser. See, my sister, NFL referee Jeff Triplet, and MLB pitcher John Smoltz all had some uber-deadly virus that was rapidly expanding by the hour, and has a lethality rate of like 6 hours or something like that.

What's also weird is that Triplet was the head ref of the fundraiser game, while slowing dying from this virus. As the game went on, I was getting morale support from Meatwad, of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Shortly before all three of them died, I woke up, wondering what the hell had just gone on.

That's just the tip of the iceberg, in terms of strange. I usually get the weirder ones every 6 months or so.

Game Modification Station / Attention planet!
« on: January 19, 2010, 03:40:50 AM »
If you are a person that has been using any of my FF6 patches, it is recommended that you check the patch page for updates. I condemn thee to hell, Anchors Aweigh, and Can't lose for winning were all conflicting with other patches.

I also must stress if you were using Drakkhen's Ignore-Ignore Defense, Drakkhen's Ignore Charm, or Master ZED's Controllable Umaro, that you re-apply those and then use my updates. My apologies to everyone for letting this go on for as long as it did. :isuck:

Gaming Discussion / We need editors! The bugs return!
« on: January 02, 2010, 03:53:21 AM »
No, not Pandora's Box, calm down. :whoa: Let's just say Leno got the idea to revive the bugs pages, and this time they are going to get done. Why? Well, for one, the research is getting done much more thoroughly than it did previously, by somebody who knows what they are doing. This allows for more accurate and precise descriptions. Unfortunately, this means we'll probably not be using many, if any of Master ZED's descriptions from his bugs guide. Sorry, ZED.

So where do you guys come in? Well, let's just say I'm no English major, and my descriptions are a To put it plainly, we need someone who is willing to go through the aches and pains of improving my writing. Anybody brave enough to accept?

General Discussion / This does not bode well...
« on: December 29, 2009, 11:20:03 PM »
So I'm grocery shopping yesterday, getting the usual crap. Everything goes smoothly, no problems. It's not until last night that I go over the receipt to see if they ripped me off anywhere (it's not common, but it happens).

So I'm looking down this huge receipt, and two items caught my eye:

So internet lingo has invaded the dairy section now?

Slick News / White stuff!
« on: December 24, 2009, 11:06:11 PM »
Ahhh yes, the time of year when snow falls, it gets cold, and for some reason it's the only time of the year when people are nice to each other.

For some people, they go trying to figure out what to get for people. Others may go just because they hadn't had time off in 5 months. Then there's the group of people that are :cycle: because they haven't a care in the world.

A good bunch of us are buried in snow, anywhere from 8 to 25 inches. That makes some people  because it involves shoveling, you lazy bastards.

And finally, a bunch of us will go :omg: because some poor fools take pity on a bunch of us and give us presents, none of which any of us deserve.

So have a Merry Christmas from all of us here at Slick, because if you don't some treasure hunter thief may take it upon himself to loot your goodies. :lungs:

General Discussion / NIXON'S BACK!!!
« on: December 02, 2009, 12:36:33 AM »
I wish I had that picture of Nixon in that episode of Futurama.

My return is not without it's limitations, though. I'm currently stuck to using Juno's free service, which gives you a grand total of 10 hours a month. It's like I've died and gone to Iowa, errr, wait, that came out wrong. :isuck:

Anyway, my activity will now be in a dwindled state instead of a drop-dead state. Everything is fine, the internet just decided to pull the rug out from under my feet. :cycle:

General Discussion / RIP Patrick Swayze

Earlier in the night, news broke that Mr. Swayze had died. He was 57.

General Discussion / Announcement
« on: August 31, 2009, 05:46:30 PM »
Within the next month, I'll no longer be where I am now. Yes, I'll be moving. I've been thinking about this all year, and I believe it is time for this to happen. Yes, terrible economy. Yes, bad job market. Bad though it may be, it's also not the same million job losses like it was earlier this year. I suppose the timing could have been better, but I don't think I can wait for too much longer before it really gets bad for myself.

As a result, I fully expect my time on the internet to severely dwindle over the coming weeks until the move is complete.

General Discussion / How badly are you getting ripped off for internet?
« on: August 25, 2009, 03:33:37 AM »
Note that this is blatantly copied from the RHDN post, but not all of you may go there...

I'm seriously getting ripped off! Know the terror of dialup!

Get yourself tested, immediately! :cycle:
