Crap, I have a Secret of Mana lowercasing patch, but it's based off of FuSoYa's VWF patch.

Guess once again  I won't contribute to anything...

Oh, wait, Lufia? I could send my Lufia I font patch your way... though it'll need to wait til I get some sleep. It's like 12 AM here and I haven't gone to bed. blargh.

Figured I should mention this--I think that my* Brushless Gogo patch was made in FF3usME, so it might be buggy... I doubt it though.

* Yes, I'm 51793Moeman; that's an old handle of mine.

Gaming Discussion / Re: Gaming Progress Thread
« on: July 14, 2009, 12:34:13 PM »
I was using the old gaming progress topic as a guide was to what I had been playing, but that topic was deleted, so... >_>

Beyond the Beyond (PS1)
Still at Zalagoon Town. I just noticed that Annie has more LP, VP, and overall Defense compared to cursed Samson. Ugh. Stupid Deus ex Machina... I just rearranged my formation to
Code: [Select]
1. Finn   2. Annie  3. Empty
4. Edward 5. Samson

Breath of Fire: The Dragon Warrior (SNES)
Played through and beaten. Average ending levels were in the 30-32 range, with Nina and Bleu being level 46 and 41 respectively. I actually solo-leveled Nina so she could get her last damn spell.

Breath of Fire II: The Fated Child (SNES)
Again, beaten. My final team was Deis, Rand, Ryu, and Lin, in that order, in the Defense formation.
We were in the 60s for our final levels, and needless to say, we kicked ass.

Breath of Fire III (PS1)
I think I just tried to "mug" Bunyan on Yraall road, last time I played. I'm saved somewhere in camp. I think I'm gonna do the wood-chopping scene real quick and catch up with Rei. I went through the path to Mt. Glaus, so the only thing I need to worry about is the actual mountain itself.

OK, did that. I'm saved at the Dragon Statue on Mt. Glaus chasing after that damned thing.

Breath of Fire IV: The Endless Ones (PS1)
Same place as last time--going through that stupid dungeon to Wyndia.

Chrono Cross (PS1)
Going through a short playthrough to get the least amount of characters for a GameFAQs topic. I'm not touching it much though.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (SFC)
Still going to kick the Snow Queen's ass. I haven't touched it lately because I think I need to level up.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie (SFC)
Not playing because I'm awaiting the updated translation.

Dragon Warrior VII (PS1)
At the animal town. I'm supposed to be following Gabo to Deathpal. I think I'm like level 8 or so.

Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls (GBA)
FFI: Doing a level 11 class change. I'm about to go to the Ice Cavern.
FFII: At the beginning of the game. I plan on mastering two weapons for everyone.

Final Fantasy III (FC)
At the cave where you get the Invincible. I think I'm still a Viking, Karateka, Bard, and Geomancer at level 28 or somesuch.

Final Fantasy IV Advance (GBA)
In the Underworld again, about to do the quest to get Sylph. I think I'm level 30 or so.

Final Fantasy V Advance (GBA)
Saved in the Wind Shrine before fighting the raptor boss there.

Final Fantasy VI Advance (GBA)
Restarted because I didn't like how I was raising my characters with espers. I'm about to do the Floating Continent again, this time raising my characters in an orderly fashion. I'm still leveling though; ever since I played Final Fantasy III on the SNES, it's been a staple of mine the get everyone's levels to 25 before leaving the World of Balance.

Final Fantasy VII (PS1)
Leveling everyone up to level 30 in Upper Junon. I never knew you could return there until I read Absolute Steve's guide. Huh.

Final Fantasy VIII (PS1)
About to do some stupid side quest in Dollet. I think it's just the stupid thing with the bones on the picture and the dog and stuff.

Final Fantasy IX (PS1)
Just about to go into Dali for the first time. Bleh.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (PS1)
Sitting on the world map somewhere. I think I just discovered the way to getting back home, and the plot kicked in.

Golden Sun (GBA)
Downloaded this and the sequel and applied the bass hack to each, and wow, the music is so much better. I'm never playing it on the handheld again.

The Legend of Dragoon (PS1)
Haven't touched it in the longest time. Heh. I think I'm still saved in that place on disc 2.

Lufia & the Fortress of Doom (SNES)
Saved in Odel. I think I need to do the Alumina side quest soon; wondeful. :bah: My theory on not leveling your characters was right, by the way--the hero is level 27, and everyone else is 24-26

Riviera: The Promised Land (GBA)
Saved at Wilhelm Bluff before Lacrima Castle. I restarted because according to the non-handholding guide, I missed a lot of stuff.

Sword of Mana (GBA)
Still in the Glass Desert to do something or other. I'm gonna need a walkthrough when I get back to playing this. Heh.

Tales of Destiny II (PS1)
Standing outside of Regulus Dojo, about to go KO some monks.

Tales of Phantasia (SFC)
Played it for like the eighth time and didn't hate it for the first. I guess it's OK if you haven't played other Tales of games in a while.

Tales of Phantasia (GBA)
Yes, after playing the Super Famicom version, I began the GBA version. I'm seriously obsessed with this game. As for actual progress, I'm about to go and make a pact with Undine.
Apparently, though, the text in this game is in ASCII, meaning I can edit the dialogue to my own preferences. Yay.

Wild ARMs (PS1)
Saved at Baskar Village. Of course, I cheated my ass off, so my characters are gods, so I've been breezing through the game.

Wild ARMs: 2nd Ignition (PS1)
Restarted because I didn't like what I named the NPCs. Uh...anyway, yeah. That's it. I'm saved in the Town of Meria with everyone together, and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing.

 :edit:
New update attached. And no, the version number isn't a typo.

From the readme: "I decided to leave all the extra stuff to other people. This is really only meant to be a base. If I had gone any further, this patch would've ceased to be a font cleanup and would become a text cleanup."

I tried your patch and I really like the way it cleans up the dialogue. The menu font doesn't seem to match up, though...but from the way I had to change the font for both I'm guessing menu font is fixed width, and changing that is way beyond my skills!
...?
What? It doesn't match up because the menu font is an entirely different font, if that's what you mean. The dialogue is a 12x12 variable width font while the menu is an 8x8 fixed width font.

I'll confess, I was rather hoping you'd incorperate my original font cleanup into this...patch? Horde of patches? Ass ton of patches? Patch allocations?

But I'm sure that the PB people *coughcough everyone else on this site coughcough* will be fine with it.

Meh, I'm one of the few that actually likes the GBA FF font, so I'll live :biggs:

The zeroes? Yeah, I was mainly trying to distinguish them from the Os, actually.

 :edit:
 :wtf:
I'm...not even going to try and understand what's going on here. I applied the patch to edit something and now it refuses to load the game.

Uh...yeah... Lemme try something and see if it works.

 :edit:
Maybe I should've been slightly suspicious when a font-only patch turned out to be 170 KB.  :isuck: New one coming up soon.

 :edit:
Pretty much done other than the fact that the damn ~ in the "ATB gauge off" setting is driving me crazy looking for it.

 :edit:
fixed it. enjoy.

Game Modification Station / FFVI Font Cleanup
« on: July 02, 2009, 06:05:19 PM »
Yeah, I'm bored and have nothing to do. Well, actually, I could be correcting some song lyrics or reading a light novel, but still.

So, yeah. The FFVI font, Chicago, has some issues with it. Firstly, the 12x12 (or whatever) font. It has an extra spaces on the rightmost side of the font; real Chicago doesn't have this.

Secondly, the 8x8 font. Anyone who's anyone knows that in its current state, I hate the little bastard. I'll simply be turning it into the Bahamut Lagoon variation.

That's pretty much it. Hopefully this won't make me go "RAEG".

 :edit:
Dialogue font's done.

Patch is done and attached. Screenshots below.

bad patch. see below for new one.

i'm not sure on the ArmorVil patch (though i think it affects Bank C1, and maybe something late in C2?), but this reminds me that Imzo still needs to add mblock129's "Shadow is Not a Girl" fix to the document. :P
Wouldn't that make a continuity error if the curious decided not to save Shadow, like on the PS1 version? (It would then call Relm "him".)

Old quotes was
Quote
We can't do anything for her
here.

Let's take her back to Thamasa
using the airship.

New quotes are
Quote
We can't do anything for him
here.

Let's take him back to Thamasa
using the airship.

I actually propose
Quote
We can't do anything here.

Let's head back to Thamasa
using the airship.

The text looks a bit clunky with the ellipsis (sp? The three periods thingy) being three separate tiles. Have you considered using an icon that uses "..." instead, like in the FFIII NES fan translation?

Final Fantasy V Research & Development / Re: FF5 Advance bugs
« on: June 21, 2009, 08:54:49 AM »
I'm gonna step out of my shell and contribute something I've known since I first played FFVA.

TOSE swapped the tile animations for the Desert of Flowing Sands in world 1 and the regular ol' desert in world 2. As we all know, the Desert of Flowing Sands was supposed to animate on the world 1's overworld. However, for some reason, it doesn't in the FFVA. Then when you get to world 2, the desert tiles there  do animate when they weren't supposed to. So it looks like TOSE switched the animation bit for world 1's Desert of Flowing Sands and the deserts in general for world 2.

I've been trying to say something about this from the beginning, but everyone seems to ignore me when I bring it up.

'Kay, yeah, it was Novalia's website.

I don't need this topic now. Thanks for the help, guys.

I can really only remember one. It was supposed to change a tile by the secret entrace Locke shows Terra after the Narshe Guards and Megalodoths vs. Locke and the Moogles battle, to the left of the Adventurer's School. It made a tile near the heap of mountains smoother looking.

I think I got there from GameFAQs, but I think it was before archiving.

EDIT: OK, there were two left off the list I made up there (obviously not intentionally). First was Imzog, and obviously he doesn't have what I'm looking for, but I noticed he has a link to NovaliaSpirit's website. Hearing that name makes me think it had to have been his site I got these patches from.

However, I try to go to the website and it's ka-dead. Oh well. :biggs:

While I'm here, do you guys still have that list of FFVI bugs hosted at Slick Productions? I'm bored and I need a good read.

Gaming Discussion / FFVI cosmetic hacks; anyone remember these?
« on: June 16, 2009, 05:01:18 AM »
Some time ago, I found a website that had some hacks that edited a few graphic tiles in FFVI--basically for all versions.

I've Googled and I've Googled, yet I can't seem to find it again. It wasn't Drakkhen's site, nor was it ZED's, Lord J's, Terii Senshi's, or Assassin's. I wish I would've saved the URL. All I remember is that it was a white-text-on-black-background website with some sort of plain porportional font.

Do you guys know what I'm talking about?
